Three new racing awards were announced in May by the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) that are sure to up bragging rights even further. As if the BTRC wasn’t exciting enough.
Of the three new awards, one is for the weekend’s ‘Giti Pole Position’, while another goes to the ‘Driver of the Weekend’, as voted for by fans.
But undoubtedly, nothing in racing is more exciting than overtaking. So, Silvey Fleet and BWOC are thrilled to sponsor the final award – the Hardest Charger Award. The driver (or drivers) that makes up the most positions over the course of a weekend will be crowned champion – adding a new incentive for drivers to charge their way through the field.
At Pembrey, on May 17/18, the Hardest Charger Award was shared by no less than four drivers, with Division 1’s Steven Powell, Stuart Oliver and Micheal Oliver all making up nine spots from their starting positions, while in Division 2, Jake Evans progressed an impressive 12 spots.
Not a bad start. But the stakes were raised even further at Thruxton, on July 5/6, with Division 1’s Ryan Smith making up an incredible 18 spots!
The next meeting at Donington Park, on August 9/10, is just around the corner. We can’t wait. Silvey Fleet and BWOC will be there together in attendance. So, if you’re planning on coming down, do stop by and say hello.
Will the next Hardest Charger top Ryan Smith’s 18 spots? We’re excited to find out…
Of the new awards sponsorship, Silvey Fleet’s Managing Director, Miriam James, said: “Building on our long-term partnership with the BTRC, this new award sponsorship not only confirms our commitment to one of the most exciting racing events in the UK, but also our belief in the performance levels of our new, sustainable fuel solutions. The Hardest Chargers have set a high bar; we hope this new award continues to raise the excitement levels – for fans and drivers alike.”
This season’s remaining race weekends are: Donington, August 9/10; Snetterton, September 13/14; Le Mans, September 20/21; and Brands Hatch, November 1/2.
