While the trend towards fleet electrification gains momentum, trucks and vans remain in a quandary. With the uptake in electric vans and zero-emission trucks stagnant, Renewable Diesel (HVO) could provide an answer where electric alternatives do not currently fit the bill.
Restrictions hinder intentions
Many fleet managers are looking for ways to make more environmentally-friendly choices, but have found challenges with EV adoption due to the compromises required on driving range, vehicle weight and cost, and charging infrastructure limitations.
For such fleets, Renewable Diesel (HVO) – made from renewable and biogenic feedstocks – offers a more sustainable option than diesel and can already be used in most vehicles. While many vehicle manufacturers have approved the use of Renewable Diesel (HVO), always check with your manufacturer first.
The sustainable fuel alternative
With lifecycle emission improvements of up to ~90%, Renewable Diesel (HVO) is of great value to businesses that have carbon reporting obligations and need to declare their transport footprint. UK forecourts are also increasing their HVO availability, and with more localised fuelling stations planned, adoption is certain to increase.
For fleets looking to move to a more environmentally-friendly fuel alternative today without heavy investment in new vehicles, Renewable Diesel (HVO) represents a genuine, cost-effective solution – and could well prove the key transitional fuel of the next few years for commercial vehicles.
Helping you achieve your goals
We are here to support our customers as they transition to low-carbon alternative fuels. Renewable Diesel (HVO) is now available on three of our fuel card networks, and at Onroute Truckstops, our group-owned fuelling locations. You can also order Renewable Diesel (HVO) to be delivered to your own sites and tanks through our fellow subsidiary, BWOC.
